TPS62913: PSpice for TI simulation is not working

Part Number: TPS62913

Hello to everybody,

i tried to setup a PSPICe -Simulation with the TPS62931 in order to simulate its behaviour.

However, the DCDC-Converter does not start anyhow.

Can anyone tell me whats wrong with my setup or if the SPICE model is wrong ?

kindly regards

Alex

  • Hello,

There could be a few things here. You are only showing 100ns of the startup, but your softstart cap is set for 5ms.  You can try reducing the NRSS cap to 10n to see a 700ns startup.  What load are you starting up with?  It is also unclear to me in your schematic.  Typically this has to be scaled based on the output voltage.

Also, you only have a single 22uF cap for the output filter.  This is below the minimum needed for stability, which is 40uF.  This isn't related to your current issue, but it will be the next item you need to address.

I would recommend starting from the included PSPICE schematic with the model, and modify it to meet your requirements.

  • Hi Alek,

Did you download and run the latest TPS62913 PSpice file from ti.com? The latest one is slvmdf8a.zip. I download this file and modify it to your schematic. The simulation is working as expected. See below. You don't need to run 100ms, you just need to run 9ms since your soft start time is 5ms as Steve mentioned as above. I also attached my simulation file here for your reference. Please let me know if you still have further questions.

    Thanks,

    slvmdf8a.zip

  • Thanks to both of you,

after trying the preset model, I saw that i need to set the minimum timestep to 10 ns. Afterwards everything is working.

    kindly regards,
