should I use thermal PAD of the UCC27211DDA

I have designed a DC/DC buck converter using UCC27211D (package without thermal pad die) and it works great. Now the problem is that the UCC27211D is out of stock and I find that the UCC27211DDA have the same pinout but with a thermal pad die. I wonder if I can use the UCC27211DDA in the same PCB without connecting thermal PAD die or I'm obliged to make a new PCB adapted to the UCC27211DDA

Hello Mohammed,

For the UCC27211 D looking for a substitute, I would first recommend the UCC27211A which is available in the D package. The A version has some functional noise immunity improvements but has the same specs as the UCC27211.

For the UCC27211 DDA package, the datasheet mentions that the power pad is not directly connected to the IC pins. In this case I would recommend connecting the power pad to ground with a PCB trace.

As I mentioned, I would first look to see if the UCC27211A is available.
