BQ24800: The precision of ACOC

Part Number: BQ24800

Hi

Could you please help to clear the application constraint as an ACOC event?

Operation: The adapter connected only

0x3C [14:11] = 150% ILIM1 = ILIM2

ICRIT = 110% ILIM2

0x37 [9] = 125% ICRIT

1. IDPM set to 1536mA,

2. IDPM set to 4096mA

Calculation:

1.150% x 1536 x 110% x 125% = 3168mA

2.150% x 4096 x 110% x 125% = 8448mA

Measurement:

1. ACOC triggered @ 5500mA (Expectation = 3168mA)

2. ACOC triggered as expectation @ 8200mA (Expectation = 8448mA)

CH1: VADP_IN; CH2: VSYS: CH4: ISYS

IDPM set to 1536mA is out of our expectations much

Thanks for your comment!

Ben

  • Hi, Ben,

There are two things affecting the ACOC accuracy.

    1. The parameter tolerance

For example, if the threshold is set to 200% typical, it could be 190% min or 215% max.

    2. The ACOC clamp

We don't suggest ACOC level too low, thus implements a low clamp of min 50 mV. See above table.

It means the lowest ACOC level is 5A based on the 10-mohm current sense. You may change the current sense if a lower protection level is needed.

    Regards,

    Tiger
