TPS6594-Q1: WD Disable Latched at Startup or Dynamic

Part Number: TPS6594-Q1

Team,

My customer is doing worstcase analysis and is trying to understand what happens if GPIO8 configured at WD disable starts grounded but then is pulled high in mid operation.

Will this dynamically changed the WD_EN register or is this strap only monitored at startup?

Note this is not how they plan on using WD Disable but they are trying to understand the risk of noise getting on the pin.

Best,

David

  • Hi David,

Here is an excerpt from the datasheet about DISABLE_WDOG:

"In order to activate this Watchdog Disable function for an un-programmed MCU, DISABLE_WDOG pin must be asserted to a logic-high level for a time-interval longer than tWD_DIS prior to the moment the device releases the nRSTOUT pin."

So if there is noise on DISABLE_WDOG after startup there should not be an issue.

    Thanks,

    Daniel W
