TPS22965: Internal Current limit threshold consult

Part Number: TPS22965

Hi Team,

What's the internal current limit threshold of our device?

Best,

Stanley

  • Hello Stanley,

    This device does not have current limit. This device limits the Vout slewrate to prevent inrush current (due to output capacitance) from exceeding certain levels depending on the slew rate set, and what your output capacitance is.

    For example: COUT = 100 μF at 5V you want to limit at a max of 1A

    T_R=(100μF∗5V)/(1 A)=500μS

    So your trise would need to be 500μS to keep the inrush current to 1A which can be set by changing the capacitance on the CT pin.

  • Hi Kalin,

    Thanks for your comments here. I can understand how our device suppress the inrush current here. But how our device limit the too much load current internally. Does this current limit function be achieved through thermal spec?

    Best,

    Stanley

  • Hello Stanley,

    you're welcome. this device does not have current limit. if your nominal load current is 100A it will draw 100A and destroy our device in the process. No limiting will occur. If this isn't what you're asking, could you please clarify?
