TPS54140 Sync pin

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS54140

Hi TI,

I'm using the TPS54140 to generate a voltage rail for a high end processor, and I am wondering how to connect the Sync pin.  I would like to sychronise to an oscillator that is running only when the PSU is up and running.  If I make a DC connection to the Sync pin like that shown in the data sheet, I'm not sure what whould happen as the processor doesn't like voltage on the pins (i.e. out of the sync pin) before the core supplies.

I was expecting there to be a common mode voltage generated in the Sync pin so that I could AC couple my new clock in similar to the LT device that I am potentially considering using.

I can use a mosfet to isolate the pin during start up but that seems a bit extreme.

Can TI offer any ideas?

Thanks,

Mike
