Greetings,
Presently we have a requirement in designing DC-DC power converter for telecom applications.
Power output: 3kW
input voltage: -48V to -72 V
Output: 12V
Our required power density is high (62 W/in3)
Communication: PMBus
So, we want to know if we could use this IC (UCC28950) for Development.
We are also open to suggestions from your side.
Hi Sreeni,
Thank you for the query on UCC28950.
Since your current is very high PSFB would probably be the choice to go for.
I can recommended a couple of reference designs for this input voltage range but 250A will require paralleling multiple modules and we do not have designs for that much current.

This IC has a SYNC pin with multi phase capability which an also be used to scale power levels. Usually it is recommended to use LOAD SHARE, with a device like the UCC29002, to parallel multiple power stages in the 2-3KW area.
The following app note discusses paralleling PSFB power supplies.

The IC does not have PMbus interface.

Thank You for the update, Harish.
The above module has an input voltage range of 36-60 V.
Do we have any other reference design that has input range up to 72 V?
Can we change our mode of communication i.e., through email?
Hi Sreeni,
Thank you for the reply. The below are the reference which are currntly available.
There is an LM5046 reference design upto 75V input voltage as you requested. But you may need to open a new e2e thread with this product title if interested in it and require more support.
I hav sent a connection request, we can close this post in case you want to continue there.
Regards,
Harish
Hi Harish,
Thank you for the info.
Ok, I will open a e2e thread for the product after going through it.
I will accept the request.
