BQ40Z50-R1: Is there a bug here

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R1

Hello engineer,

There is a problem with the products made with the BQ40Z50-R1 scheme. When the host sends a lot of inquiry information to BQ40Z50-R1, the BQ40Z50-R1 will be abnormal (turn off the output); In this case, if HPE and CPE are closed, no exception will occur

  • Hello,

If you are trying to constantly communicate with the gauge while it is needing to perform other calculations it may cause a WDT reset. Communication has highest priority so other tasks will be put on hold.

Over the newer firmware releases we have added fixes to help with this but it is still not recommended to spam the gauge with communication.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello engineer:

Thanks for your reply, you help me a lot !

Can you answer the following questions?

1、Which version of the updated firmware do you mean, R2 、R3 or R4?

2、In the new version of firmware, do I need to adjust the registers for optimization here? Which registers are they?

              look forward to your reply!

  • Hello,

The newest firmware will have all the most recent fixes, I would always recommend updating to the most recent if needed.

A newer firmware may not fix the issue since the same problem will occur and firmware cannot fix it - if you send too many commands to the gauge quickly the gauge may WDT because it does not have time to perform it's normal tasks due to communication spam.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hello engineer:

Regarding the improvement of WDT, can you directly use the R4 firmware? Or do you need to set some registers in the R4 firmware?
I want to know which registers need to be set。

    Look forward to your reply!

  • Hello,

There are no setting changes required.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
