BQ25886EVM: Input Current Limit by D+, D-

Hi Michael,

There seems some variation on D+/D- detection. As you know, D+/D- detection depends on both parties, adapter and charger. Variations from either side or even line conditions may potentially cause problems. Other than debug out root cause in your system, charger doesn't have extra "knobs" to adjust the voltage set values or detection levels.

I want to ask additional test w/ EVM.

We have replaced old part to new part on the EVM. and then tested.

But, test result is same issue. 

Could you please test USB CDP, DCP mode on the EVM? and then is there no issue?

Hi Michael,

Have you tried different type of adapter? As you know, D+/D- is a mutual handshaking between adapter and charger. It is possible EVM doesn't work with certain adapters.  We have to debug both sides.

This issue is not in adapter but Laptop PC.

So could you check it between Laptop PC and EVM?

Understood. Regardless of adapter or laptop, charger has to receive "correct" signal sent by the other party in order to make correct D+/D- detection.
