BQ4050: The 5th light does not turn solid when the SOC reaches 100% during charging

Hi team,

Here's an issue from the customer may need your help:

While charging, when SOC reaches 100%, 5th light remains flashing and does not turn solid. After charging has been switched off, the five lights are off.

Requirements:

SOC 0~20% :LED1 is flash；

SOC 20~40% :LED1 is on，LED2 is flash；

SOC 40~60% :LED1 is on，LED2 is on，LED3 is flash；

SOC 60~80% :LED1 is on，LED2 is on，LED3 is on，LED4 is flash；

SOC 80~100% :LED1 is on，LED2 is on，LED3 is on, LED4 is on，LED5 is flash；

SOC =100% :LED1 is on，LED2 is on，LED3 is on，LED4 is on，LED5 is on；

Hello Cherry,

They can try to set the last LED5 threshold to 99% so when it switches to 100% the LED5 switch solid, but I am not sure if this will work.

If this does not work then with LEDCHG set they will not be able to get the functionality you describe. After charge completes the gauge will turn off the LEDs after Chg Relax Time and then when the button is pressed the LEDs will be displayed solid.

It doesn't work. Is there any other solution? EG: change the default setting of an unopened register.

BQ40Z50 has a configuration bit description for LED5 to be always on, but 4050 does not.

Hello Annie,

I believe LEDONFC is a feature added to the BQ40Z50 and not present in the BQ4050. It is not possible to add in additional features unless there is a business case for it.

Hello Cherry,

I'm not aware of a workaround for this specific case. The only other suggestion I could give is try manually setting the thresholds above 100% for the last LED5 threshold. You will need to use the advanced communication tab.
