Hello,

I was wondering if we can dynamically change the gas gauge settings (e.g., protection settings) without rebooting the device. I'm asking this because whenever we reset the device, the learned capacity is gone. Therefore, we want to avoid resetting or shutting down the device. At the same time, we prefer to have some sort of dynamic settings based on different scenarios in operation. Is that possible?

Resetting the device had better to be done after you modified the flash parameters, in general, some parameters are read directly from the flash, but some are read to RAM for FW use, you can check if the parameters you changed would take effect without resetting, if not, then you need to reset the device to make it effective

Thank you Steven for your response. Is there any document where I can find which settings are directly read from the flash and which ones from the RAM?

Hi Shayan,

There is no document that identifies which parameter changes would require a reset. I think changing protection thresholds might take effect without a reset, but you should test this to verify. This is not a common use case.
