All the schematics I see for this has the system it's embedded into using the battery via the SYS pin of the chip. Does this path provide high current ~40A?
I plan to embed this into a drone to provide onboard charging and balancing of 2 21700 series batteries. I'd rather not power the system through this chip. I'm assuming I can omit the use of the SYS pin and things will function normally (e.g, when I hook the drone up to change, it will). There won't be a situation in which I need to fly the drone and charge at the same time for obvious reasons.
