LM7480-Q1: Bulk current injection (BCI) – ISO11452-4 test

Part Number: LM7480-Q1

Hello,

1-) Does the circuit built with the LM7480-Q1 IC below pass the bulk current injection (BCI) – ISO11452-4 200mA test?

2-) If it does not pass the test, will putting ferrite in the red place in the picture below solve it? and what would you recommend?

  • Hi Omer,

Thanks for reaching out to us. Let me review your question and get back with response by tomorrow.

  • Hi Omer,

Sorry for the delay in response. The common source topology circuit you pointed out should be able to pass bulk current injection ISO11452-4 200mA test. The key for passing the BCI test is having the decoupling capacitor (Cvs) close to the IC. Having Ferrite bead in the power path is  not required. We have customers passing the BCI test without any additional components. At most you would need multiple decoupling capacitors in parallel (1uF+0.1uF+0.01uF)  depending on the Frequency range of the test to suppress noise on the VS pin.
