TPS536C7: Using remote and local sensing togather

Hi Team

We are using TPS536C7 in one of our new design , for schematic we are taking reference of one our working board in that there we were using remote and local sensing as shown below .

Please do let me know following question

1) What is advantage of using these two sensing ?

2) what precautions we should take while using such method ? When we should use these method ?

Hi Abhishek,

1. It allows the voltage regulator to regulate if the remote sense is compromised (such as processor not in socket). It can also help with loop stability.

2. Make sure the remote sense resistors are much smaller than the local sense resistors, 10x is good. We recommend having the local sense for any design in the event the remote sense line becomes compromised.

Hi Abhishek,

Here's some info on general remote sensing. I haven't been able to find any on the combo remote & local sense, as this is unusual for non-cpu applications.
