TPS536C7: Basic configuaration requitred to be updated for no of phase as well PDN requirment change

Hi Team

We are using TPS536C7 in one of our project we are taking refernce of another project , we are using 8 phase connected to channel A ie new configuartion is 8+0 while previous configuartion is 12+0 .we are keeping per phase current same as old configauration.

1) What are changes we need to do to acheive new configuration ?

2) PDN requirment of brodcomm part we are using are changed from previous part , to ensure that we meet those requeirment do w e need to make any changes? Below are requirmemnts from broadcomm

Please do let me know how i can ensure that we can meet below requirments .

Hi Abhishek,

You will need to change the phase config & OCL values, but everything else should be able to be kept the same if the other power requirements are the same.

Thanks for quick update.
Per phase currnet is same but over all current requirment is 200A less than current configuration . accordinmgly load line requirement also changes . since this is my first design with multiphase regulator . I am not sure how i should derive the load line details from above PDN requiremnts ? Can you help me to understand this ?

Hello Abhishek,

The load line should be specified in your load chip's datasheet. I do not see it in the chart above; it only includes noise specs.

Thanks for these update
I have one more question .In order to test our configaurtion I made changes in our previous board having 12 phase to 8 as per above description . Even after saving 8 phase configaurtion to NVM on next power cycle we are getting 12 phase configauraton . Do we need to write any other register to overwrite 12 phase configauration .

Hi Abhishek,

In Fusion, check the "PD PHASE" in "Override Pinstrapping" in the "System configuration" tab. Set the value to 0b, which causes the TPS536C7 to set phase config based on NVM data instead of pinstrapping. Then set the phase config in Fusion to 8 phases, then write to hardware & store to NVM.

Thanks for quick response , I made this change . If I am making changes in volatges and PD phase selction is getting updated after power cycle . But no of phases are not getting updated ie now of phases are still 12

2) Do I need to make changes in firing order also .
