TPS25750: USB enumeration

Hello,

With the TPS25750EVM config GUI, it is possible to set the VID/PID letting me believe the device should enumerate when connected to an USB port on a computer. When I set the option and enter the hex value in the gui:

It seems the EVM does not enumerate with my computer.

Is there any other setting that allow for the enumeration to occur?

Thanks Raymond, just to be clear I am talking about USB enumeration on a PC or mac, not charger detection. I am using USB viewer to check enumeration, here is what I have tested so far:

I have been in touch with Ambroise about this as well.

Hi Pierre,

The VID and PID settings are specifically for USB-PD protocols and "Discovering Identity" messages between two PD capable devices (set by USB-IF). It is not meant to USB enumeration.

Thanks Raymond, so if we need to enumerate, we would need to use a multiplexer on D+- and route them to a usb capable MCU, correct? could this interfer with the operation of the controller? Are there appication notes on that subject?

Hi Pierre,

Yes that is correct, you would need to route them to a USB capable MCU.

This should not interfere with the PD at all, the only connection with D+/- pin to the TPS25750 is if you're implementing BC1.2 charging, which the TPS25750 supports. By default, this setting is not enabled and if you're not implementing BC1.2 charging, then you don't have to worry about it.

We (USB-PD) don't have any documentation with USB enumeration, I would recommend reaching out to the team responsible for USB-capable MCU for more information.
