Hi There,
One of our customers is having some issues with some single cell Polymer batteries that have been supplied by one of our partners in China. Some of the batteries are just losing comms whilst working. Some batteries begin to report an internal temperature of -273.2 °C. This is not after a fixed time period as it could happen after a couple of days testing or a week or longer. This makes it difficult to assess or test as it is unknown when this could happen.
The first 500pcs of prototypes are being testing with volume production to begin in 2023. Around 50pcs out of 500pcs have shown this behaviour. Replacing the BQ IC purchased from Digi-key on a couple of packs corrected the problem and when programmed with the GG file – gave reported results as expected.
Is it possible for you to see from the IC marking BQ7542 TI CI 139D if anything does not look correct? The marking is not laser etched like we have seen before, but printed. The board assembler has purchased the IC’s from Arrow.
Or maybe you have had some issues from this batch from other customers
In the first instance, this would be great if you can check. I have asked colleagues to obtain labels from the box and reel.
Many thanks.
