BQ25792: Working without Battery

Part Number: BQ25792

dear everyone,

I'm try to debug a PCB with the BQ25792.

When the device with battery is powered with wall adaptator, there is no problem BUT when the same device is powered without battery, nothing....

The Pin_25, called SYS do not provide voltage.

A previous post (on your forum), say and confirm me that this IC could work without battery.

A have read to : ".... for start up without battery AND have Vsys present...." > EN_Charg = 0 & CE=1.

As the EN_Charg status is high by default ( Default register) the unique way is to pull up CE pin. Is it right ?

  • Hi Joseph,

The charger BAT and SYS overshoot, resulting in converter power down, if no battery is present, charge is enabled and TS function is either is disabled or has a simulated thermistor attached. Pulling up /CE until battery is installed is the best way to prevent this from happening.

    Regards,

    Jeff
