TPS4H000-Q1: The open load fault of channel off

Part Number: TPS4H000-Q1

Hi team!

As datasheet said, if an open load occurs, the output voltage is close to the supply voltage (VVS – VOUTx < V(ol,off)), and the fault is reported out.

But the fet is off, how can the output voltage be close to the supply voltage? In my opinion, the output voltage should be not sure due to float. Can you explain this principle? Or Is there any block diagram not show in the datasheet?

  • Hi Hale,

It would require an external pull-up at the output for the detection to work. The Rpu will be a large resistance, so it doesn't interfere the normal operation while FET is ON or non open-load situations. Only when FET is OFF and open-load, the output will be pulled to Vbat.

Please let me know if you have additional questions.

    Regards,

    Yichi
