BQ20851 - disable impedance tracking algo via EV2300+bqevsw

Hi

Is it possible to disable the sophisticated impedance tracking algorithm in BQ20851?

I want to use the BQ20851-managed laptop battery with new cells of unrelated chemistry. I really don`t need any current_capacity data and I would be happy to use the battery (Apple A1057) as a blind source of charge.

Hello Misha,

The bq20851 does not implement impedance tracking algorithm.

Great, thank you. But it uses something else that is chemistry-dependant, right? Is it possible to make the battery chemistry-independant (with limited functionality or so) ?

Hello Misha,

The gauge depends on battery chemistry information. You can continue to monitor voltage and current correctly even if chemistry data is incorrectly programmed. You can set data flash constants such that none of the thresholds will be reached to disable any specific function.
