TPS2373: TPS2373-4RGW

Part Number: TPS2373

Hi Team,

We have designed 48V to 24V output with the help of this part TPS2373-4RGW but we at 24V output supply picking noise from outside or from the board itself we are not clear about this we need your help to understand this s

We have attached the waveform of noise captured on the oscilloscope randomly due to some interference of the board with the outside environment.

Kindly suggest a possible reason for this ringing effect on our board.

If any other details are required please let us know.

  • Hi Anurag,

Thanks for reaching out to us!

May I know if what is the downstream circuit of the TPS2373 chip?

The falling UVLO of the VDD-Vss is 30.5 - 33.6 V. If your output is just after the TPS2373, the VDD-Vss falling UVLO could be the cause of your case. Since the hotswap will be turned off after the falling UVLO, which may cause transient voltage overshoot.

    Best regards,

    Diang

  • Hi Diang,

    Good day to you!

So, we checked above mentioned point also but it did not work. So, after further debugging, we found that our board is having some ground issues.
Let me tell you how we come to this conclusion. We given input of 48V with dc jack and probe at 24V (i.e transformer output) in we connected our oscillscope USB cable to capture a waveform and  in our board one USB connector is where we take logs for debugging or setting some configuration.
So, whenever we connect that USB cable above type of spikes comes and when spikes comes large board reboot but when we connect oscilloscope USB and connect our uart console cable (USB) to our board no spikes comes.

So, I am doubting in power section ground issue.

Kindly help to resolve this issue.

  • Hi Anurag,

Happy new year and thanks for your reply!

"We given input of 48V with dc jack and probe at 24V" Do you mean you connect a dc voltage source between TPS2373's Vdd-RTN and you set a rising/falling edge trigger at 24 V?

I am wondering if you could share the schematic which may help us check the potential grounding issue. If you do not want to share it in E2E, I can connect you in email.

    Best regards,

    Diang

  • Hi Diang,

Happy new year. Thanks for your quick reply.

Do you mean you connect a dc voltage source between TPS2373's Vdd-RTN and you set a rising/falling edge trigger at 24 V? We given input of 48V@1A at

and getting ringing effect at 24V output Means we are applying the trigger at 24V

So, I want to add one more point is we are using RC pair between earth ground and digital ground so when we are measuring voltage between resistor pad or capacitor i am getting 2.5V. Means between earth ground and digital ground some voltage is coming I think this is not acceptable. Please suggest for this observation how we can resolve this.

Yes we connect over mail for schematic sharing.

  • Hi Anurag,

Thanks for your updates. I have sent you an email for schematic request and further discussion.

    Best regards,

    Diang
