We are looking for PMIC

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65218

Hello,

We are looking for PMIC that has the specification below. Could you please tell us counter person or suitable product.

-Capable to control valtage by I2C

-Inpur voltage:5V

-Number of channel:7ch or more (There are 2 or more LDO channel)

-Output voltage range:2ch LDOoutput:1.5V to 4.5V others:0.8V to 3.3V

-Voltage resolution:0.01V or less

-Output current:1A or more

-Output accuracy:0.1V or less

  • Hello,

    Thank you for reaching out via E2E. I have a few questions to further clarify the specifications you mentioned.

    • In general please help to provide more specifics on your power requirements for each output. It will be easiest to recommend a PMIC if you can provide the voltage and current requirement of each channel.
    • What is the end application the PMIC will be used in?
    • Do you need all 7 channels to have 1A or more current capacity? Most of our PMIC options will have LDOs where the max current is in the range of 400 to 600 mA.
    • You are looking for 2 outputs to have voltage range 1.5V to 4.5V and at least 5 others to have 0.8V to 3.3V. Is that correct?

    Regards,

    Garrett

  • Hello,

    I emailed yesterday. Did you see email?

    Or Shoud I fill in answer in this form again?

    Best Regards,

  • I fill in my comment as well as email. These sentences are same as the email I sent yesterday.

    • In general please help to provide more specifics on your power requirements for each output. It will be easiest to recommend a PMIC if you can provide the voltage and current requirement of each channel.

    -> We would like to change each channel voltage by I2C communication.

        -At lease, 2LDO channels are necessary.

        -At lease, 7 channels are totally necessary including LDO channel.

        -Best option is 2 LDO and 5 DCDC.

        -In the above condition, 5 DCDC's power requirement is below.

            1. Outpur range : 0.8V to 3.3V changeable by I2C.

            2. Changeable steps by I2C : less than 0.01V e.g. I would like to set 0.92V.

            3.  Current capacity : 1A is enough. 500mA or more is mandatory.

            4. Output Accuracy: 0.1V or less e.g. when we set 0.92V, output should be from 0.82V to 1.02V

        - 2LDO's power requirement is following.

           1. Output range: 1.5V to 4.5V changeable by I2C.

           2. Changeable steps by I2C : 0.01V as well as DCDC.

           3. Current capacity: 1A is wish. But if there are no such device, around 500mA is possible.

           4. Output accuracy : 0.1V as well as DCDC.

    • What is the end application the PMIC will be used in?

    -> End application will be camera.

    • Do you need all 7 channels to have 1A or more current capacity? Most of our PMIC options will have LDOs where the max current is in the range of 400 to 600 mA.

    -> As I mentioned above, 1A is wish. But if there are no such device. around 500mA is possible. Please propose it.

    • You are looking for 2 outputs to have voltage range 1.5V to 4.5V and at least 5 others to have 0.8V to 3.3V. Is that correct?

    -> Yes, LDO's voltage range should have at leasr 1.5V to 4.5V. Others have at leasr 1.8V to 3.3V.

        If voltage range can cover above range, the lager, the better. e.g. if all channel have 0.8V to 4.5V, It is OK. 0.7V to 4.7V is of course OK.

    If There are no device that have these specifications, I would like to use 2 devices combined each other for example.

    Coud you please tell us the best solution?

  • Hello,

      Please take a look at the PMIC TPS65218 and let's know if it fits your needs.

    Thanks!

    Phil

  • Or; please take a look at the camera PMIC TPS650330; 2 devices can cover all power rails but LDOs can't support up to 4.5V and 400mA.

    Thanks!

    Phil

  • Thank you for sharing TPS65218.

    Although I checked specification, it was not enough for our requirement.

    From DCDC1 to DCDC4 is enough.

    But both DCDC5 and DCDC6’s current capabilities are too low.

    I expect DCDC5 and 6 will be same specification as DCDC3 and 4.

    And also this PMIC has only one LDO.

    I need 2 channel LDOs.

    Do you have such devices?

    If there are no suitable devices, I can combine 2 devices to meet our specification.

    Could you please provide me suitable device or combination used 2 devices?

    TSP65218

    DCDC1 0.851.675V      1.8A       ->OK

    DCDC2 0.851.675V      1.8A       ->OK

    DCDC3 0.93.4V            1.8A       ->OK

    DCDC4 1.1753.4V        1.6A       ->OK

    DCDC5 1V                        25mA     ->NG.  It wish it would DCDC3 or 4.

    DCDC6 1.8V                     25mA     ->NG.  It wish it would DCDC3 or 4.

    LDO1    0.9-3.4V               400mA   ->OK

    LDO2 is necessary.

    Best Regards,

  • Hello,

    Thank you for reaching out and Happy Holidays. Please note we have limited product support available from 22-December thru 6-January.  Please expect a delay in response by 4 January 2023. Thank you for your patience!

    Best Regards,

  • Hello

    Thank you for your holiday information. I will wait for you prompt advice.

    In addition that, I noticed mistake I filled in.

    I expect LDO output is up to 4.5V. TPS652187's LDO output is up to 3.4V. It is little low.

    Could you please provide me suitable device or combination used 2 devices?

    LDO2 is necessary.

    Have a nice holiday.

  • Hello,

      Unfortunately; I can't find the PMIC either 1 or 2 devices to meet your specifications so far. I'll check with other teams after the holiday season end and back to normal work. I'll update you whenever I find devices to meet your specifications.

    Thanks!

    Phil

  • Hello,

    Please check other teams. And please let me know suitable devices. I hope it.

    Best Regards,

  • Hello,

    We have checked with multiple teams and unfortunately we do not have a good option to meet your requirements. None of our PMIC options have a LDO with the capability to output up to 4.5V with a 5V input. My best recommendation is to use a PMIC device mentioned above for the majority of the outputs plus a couple discrete components to meet your requirement for the LDO and additional BUCK.

    Regards,

    Garrett
