TPS25982: Use in BPS

Is it possible to use the TPS25982 as a Bi-Directional Power Switch (such as the TPS2595 example in this app note)? I couldn't find much info in the datasheet about reverse current from OUT to IN.

I will recommend using TPS25946 for bidirectional current flow.

Hi Kunal,

Unfortunately, the TPS25946 will not work in my application because I need to allow for 10 A in one direction.

A little more about my application: We have a high-capacity 4-cell L-ion battery (~12V to 16.5V). When discharging, we need to allow for 10 A of current draw, but the batteries only charge at 3A max. Will the TPS25982 back to back work for that, or is there a different bidirectional efuse that works at that current draw?

Both directions would be preferred but not required. There definitively needs to be current limiting in the 10 A direction.

I was thinking maybe it would be better to put two e-fuses in parallel going reverse directions. Would something like this work? Both these e-fuses always block reverse current.

yes that is possible. You can use TPS25947 instead of TPS25940.

Hi Kunal,

Yeah, I had looked at the TPS25947 and the TPS259470A version looks ideal for my application. Unfortunately though, the TPS259472L is the only variant in-stock currently. I think I'll have to use the TPS25940 now and switch to the TPS259470A when it's available again.
