TPS65988DK: TBT4 Gorilla Creek TI88 architecture PD firmware Settings

Part Number: TPS65988DK
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS65982DMC, , TPS65988

HI TI engineer,

Now I am designing an extension dock based on TBT4, which is based on Gorilla Creek TI88,  a reference design of intel. Currently,  some problems have been found in the test. I want to modify the VDM waiting time for PD communication,  but now it is too short, so my device may not be able to recognize it. Where can I modify it, please?

  • Hi Lian,

Check to make sur you're using the current version of the GUI version 6.3.5 and FW base image F907.14.13

There is no minimal wait time for receiving VDM messages from port partner (far-end connected device), during communication each end will wait for a 'GoodCRC' message before sending any other messages. If the wait time is too long, PD will timeout and attempt to resend VDM message.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Raymond Lin

  • Hi Raymond Lin,

I think I have solved the problem of device identification, but now I am faced with another problem. I updated the firmware of TPS65988DK online, but I cannot see its version in tool, only the firmware version of TPS65982DMC. What should I do?

  • Hi Lian,

Are you building a project for TPS65982DMC or TPS65988DK? When making a new Project you should be able to select TPS65988DK as the base template, which should pull up the configuration for 988DK.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Raymond Lin

  • Hi Raymond Lin,

Yes, I am building the firmware of TPS65988DK+TPS65982DMC, they share the same Flash storage, there is an online firmware update and view option for pulling out TPS65982DMC, but there is no such option for pulling out TPS65988DK. So I can only see the firmware version of TPS65982DMC but not the firmware version of TPS65988DK. Do you have any suggestions?

  • Hi Lian,

When you select Project->New Project, you should see an option for TPS65988 which is the 65988DK device.

    Thanks and Regards,

    Chris
