Hello,

i want to charge a 12V battery from another 12V battery via an isolated DCDC-converter. I need high efficiency at 500W and therefore i want to use the Phase shifted topology.

The input voltage varies from 11V to 16V. Is the UCC28951-Q1 sutible for such an application? Theoretically the use of GaN-FETs would be possible with the right gate drivers, isn´t it?

Hello,

Your input voltage range is low for the input of a 12 V battery charger. Generally you would have an AC input off line and step down the voltage to charge the battery. If this is the case the UCC28951 would be a good candidate due to zero voltage switching of the H Bridge. This designs can achieve above 90% efficiency.

Thank you very much for your suggestion. But I couldn´t find any IC which works galvanic isolated and can deliver 500W in power.

I want to use an isolated DCDC-converter. Can the UCC28951 drive the PSFB when the input voltage is this low and still deliver 12V at the output?

Hello,

To get galvanic isolation just requires using opto feedback with a TL431. The following link will bring you to a UCC2895 FSFB evaluation module that has galvanic isolation using a opto feedback with a TL431.
