Our customer would like to connect the BQ79606A-Q1 to Visual Studio using the USB-to-FTDI cable included in the evaluation module. Please see the details of his inquiry below.
I have the EVM and the TTL-232R-5V USB to TTL 5V serial cable from TI and I am able to successfully connect to and control the BQ79606A-Q1 chip on the board using TI's Battery Management Studio. I would like to use the same cable to monitor and control the same chip using Visual Studio on my computer, similar to Battery Management Studio. I understand how to implement the communication/control via a microcontroller, but I do not understand how to implement it with my computer using this USB-to-FTDI cable provided by TI. How should I go about communicating with the EVM on my computer without using the TI Battery Management Studio? I can assume that it is possible because the same functionality is implemented for the Battery Management Studio to communicate with it. Thanks.
