LP5012EVM: Development board cannot write register

Nice to hear you, the GUI for LP5012EVM has some problem, have you checked the I2C address?

If it is possible, I can provide the example code for LP5012 based on MSP430F5529.

Or I can give you the set-up guidance for LP5012.

Finally, could you use the LP5024EVM to evaluate the IC? Because LP5024EVM can be used successfully, and it has same function compared to LP5012, only the number of output channels are different (24 vs 12)

Hi Betty,

Because LP5012 is a very simple device and controlled by I2C interface, so I think give you the guidance maybe the best way to use our device.

So please follow this guidance to set up the device quickly: 

1) Enable chip from EVICE_ CONFIG0 register.

2)Chose max_Current_ Option in DEVICE_CONFIG1 Register (25.5/35mA)

3)Configure LED_CONFIG0, BANK_BRIGHTNESS and BANK_A/B/C_COLOR register if you need bank control, if you don't need this function, the default value is 0(disable bank control).

4)If you use individual control for all LEDs, you need to configure LEDx_BRIGHTNESS Register (default FFh) and OUTx_COLOR (default 00h) related the LEDyou want to control, you should mention the brightness control is for 1 RGB (3 LED dots) and the color control is for each LED dot.

After the configuration, the device should run properly.

Yes, I understand, but the guidance is for you to use your own MCU to control it, because the GUI has some problem, and we need time to update it.

So, if you don't have your own MCU, I suggest you evaluate the LP50xx family on LP5024EVM, and I feel sorry to bring trouble to you.

Please see the example code for using bank control of LP5024, some of the register need to be change if you want control LP5012 with it.

The code is based on MSP430F5529-LP, if you don't have the launch pad, you could take it as a reference to write you r own code.
