ISO5852S: Using one gate driver two drive two NMOS with common-source connection for AC signal switching

Part Number: ISO5852S

Hi,

I am planning to use ISO5852S to drive two series-connected NMOS in common source connection. The intention of this configuration to drive an AC signal. I have following questions related to this.

1. In the attached figure, VGS refers to the gate driver output. Please let me know if the configuration of the gate driver seems ok.

2. What would be the maximum peak to peak AC voltage that the gate driver will be able to withstand for a switching frequency close to 100 - 200 kHz and 50-70% duty cycle?

Thanks.

Jonathan

  • Hi Jonathan,

    Yes it looks ok.

    1. Please refer the Abs Max section of  the datasheet in page 5 to understand the max supported voltage on each of the pins of the driver. You need to make sure that the switching frequency and Duty cycle together doesnt exceed the maximum Tj supported [150 degC] of the driver. To compute the maximum power supported for the driver is explained in page 29, [maximum available dynamic power]. As long as the driver is operated within the max power supported and the Tj should not exceed 150 degC.

Please let us know if it answers your question.

    Thanks
