Hello,

For a project I need a solar charger IC for a small 12V load acid battery. It is a small battery so a charger current of 2 of 3A is enough.

I didn't find any solar lead acid for smaller currents. Only large types with external power stage.

Are there any solar lead acid charger with an internal power stage of what is TI suggestion I can use?

Hi Ernst,

For non-host controlled, take a look at https://www.ti.com/lit/an/slva437a/slva437a.pdf.

For host controlled (meaning software is required), take a look at BQ25798.

Hi Jeff,

Thanks for the reply. There is an microcontroller so software requirements are fine and the BQ25798 look very promising.

Only both IC's are not in stock and will be available somewhere in 2024. So that is an issue.

All the sample stock are reflected on ti.com. If the BQ25798 or BQ24650 is not available, the best way to find out would be to click the “Notify me when available” link. Once the units are back in stock, you will get an email notification to order. We restock the units for ti.com quite often.
