TPS2372-4EVM-006: Splitter/Injector

Part Number: TPS2372-4EVM-006
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS2372-3EVM-757, BOOST-PSEMTHR-007, TPS23881EVM-008, USB2ANY

Hi,

I'm looking for a POE Splitter and POE Injector for our application. The POE Injector, would work by taking 48V from DC supply and DATA from Ethernet source. On the other end, we want to split POE into DATA and POWER. t. I'm assuming TPS2372-4EVM-006 works as an Injector by combining DATA and POWER into POE output. But can it also work as a splitter by having POE as an input and DATA with POWER splitted separately?

Thanks

  • Hi Sarunas,

TPS2372-4EVM-006 can be used to split the data and power.

As the picture below, the PoE power is dc voltage/current which cannot pass the T1 transformer. J1 is power + data port and J2 will be data only port.

    Best regards,

    Diang

  • Hi Diang,

thanks for a reply. I'm assuming TPS2372-3RGWT  (eval model TPS2372-3EVM-757 ) can do the same job by looking at the schematics. This splits POE into Power + Data. Can it be used as Injector - where supplying DATA and POWER separately, and it combines into POE(Data+PWR) output?

    Thanks

  • Hi Sarunas,

    Thanks for your response.

Both TPS2372-3EVM-757 and TPS2372-4EVM-006 can be used as PoE splitters. They are not designed as PoE injector but roughly they can be configured to send power and data. But they can only work as a passive injector (they cannot go through negotiation process like detection, classification,...).

You can use TI’s TPS23881EVM as an active PoE injector or standard PSE (power sourcing equipment). The following information could be helpful if so.
    TI’s PSE Hardware:
1). BOOST-PSEMTHR-007 (you can request sample)
2). TPS23881EVM-008 (you can request sample)
3). USB2ANY Interface Adapter (you need to purchase one)
    Software:
