I am using the TPS61016DGSR to boost a 3.0V battery up to 3.3V. We have taken great measures to reduce the quiescent current as low as possible to achieve long battery life out of the product. Even though the average input current while sleeping is ~55uA, we are seeing periodic high current spikes of 14mA. With little to no load, we see these input current spikes at a rate of 12Hz to 18Hz, and when changing the load we see the spikes at a 277Hz rate. Getting rid of these 14mA spikes will reduce our ~55uA input current even further and would be very desirable in this battery-operated product.
Are these high current spikes normal? Is this a by-product of feeding the charge-pump, or switching in and out of power save mode, or something else? I would like to know if this behavior is expected, or if we have something implemented incorrectly.
