HI,

I'M HAVING COMMUNICATION ISSUE BETWEEN MY EV2400+BQ40Z50 4S2P BATTERY PACK AND THE BQSTUDIO

THE TOOL IS NOT DETECTING MY EV2400 MODULE

I JUST RECEIVED THIS EV2400 4 DAYS AGO

CAN I GET SOME NAVIGATION OR HELP ON HOW TO RECTIFY THIS PLEASE

THANKS

JONATHAN K

  • Hello Jonathan,

From the screenshot left side dashboard, it looks like the EV2400 detected fine and the EV2400 firmware version is v0.18

I would recommend that you upgrade the firmware on the EV2400 to the latest version.

The error that is reported is No acknowledge. This is reported by the EV2400. It usually means that the SMBus cable is not correctly connected or the BQ40Z50 is in sleep state. Wake up the BQ40Z50 by shorting Pack+ to Bat+, then try again.

  • Hello Jonathan,

Close bqStudio or any other applications that may use the EV2400 before running the EV2400 firmware  updater.

  • Can i get link to the firmware please

  • The 3 LED's on the EV2400 module is now off after trying to update firmware

  • Did the update succeed?

  • it did not update ,after failing to update the 3 LED's is not illuminating anymore

where do i go from here ,is there a way i can reset this module as i have some significant testing to do?

Did you try the -s and any other mentioned options?

  • how do i activate the -s option

can you detail for me step by step how to activate this -s option feature ?

  • Hello Jonathan.

Type in "cmd" after clicking on the "windows" button.

Then click on command prompt to open it

type in "cd C:\ti\EV2400Updater-0.32" and press enter

Type in "EV2400_Updater_v0032.exe -s" and press enter

Make sure bqStudio and any other applications are closed before trying this. You can reboot your PC and try it to make sure all applications are shut down.

  • Hello Shirish,

    I've been reviewing the schematics

and I've seen the 4 test points TP1=5V,TP2=5V,TP3=3.3V,TP4=0V when it's powered

    TP1 shows 5v,TP2 shows 0.5v,TP shows 3.3V and TP shows 0V

    TP2 showing 0.5V should i be concerned?

  • TP2 is an alternate power supply test point. It does not matter what it is if you got 3.3V at TP3.

Did the -s option not work?

  • -s option did not work!!!

is there any other suggestion or troubleshooting method that we can to perform?

the three LED's have not turned on ever since i tried updating the firmware

  • Can you send a screenshot of the error when using the -s option?

  • it does the firmware update sequence then the window just shuts down very quick without seeing any action on the module?

  • Hello Jonathan,

Please run the program on the command prompt as described earlier to capture a screenshot. The window should not close when run on the command prompt

  • Here's the screenshot of the window that closes abruptly when trying the firmware update with the -s option

if this is something you've come across please guide me on how to rectify this!!!!!!!

  • Hello Jonathan,

Based on this image it looks like the EV2400 is in normal mode and therefore  bqStudio should recognize it. Let me know if bqStudio displays the EV2400 version.

  • Hello Shirish,

AS previously mentioned it's not detecting the EV2400 module nor the BQ40Z50

if this is a fault and if should get a replacement or repair please let me know

as we've been struggling with this for awhile now and there's no solution

  • Hello,

In the previous image, the EV2400 was being detected.

In the new image, it is not detected. It looks like something went wrong with the EV2400 in this time (maybe the update). You will need a replacement.

  • Hello Shirish,

i got a replacement module to replace the faulty one

and after week of working it's gone down again

is this something wrong with my Battery Pack, set up, or environment(ESD,EMI,EMC)

    See pictures below

  • Hello Jonathan,

The EV2400 can be damaged if a voltage > 3.3V is accidentally connected to the clock or data lines even for a short time. Also make sure nothing is connected to the VVOD line as it is a no connect on the EVM.

    ESD can also cause damage
