Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS3700, TPS3710, TPS3840
Hi All,
Can the OV pin be left floating when not used in the TPS3702? Or is it better to connect to GND or VDD considering the influence of noise?
Best Regards,
Ishiwata

Ishiwata-san,
You can leave the pin floating or pull up to Vcc.
Thanks.
Hi Masound-san,
Thanks for your answer.
I have an additional question for TPS3700/TPS3702/TPS3710.
I want to input power from resistive voltage division as shown in the circuit below.
Is this input method OK?

If the resistance value is greater than the supply current of the device, is it okay to install it?
Best Regards,
Ishiwata
Hi Ishiwata,
It is not advised to use a voltage divider to power the device.

Hi Jesse,
Thank you for your reply.
The TPS3840 allows level shift input as follows.

I thought that the same usage would be possible with TPS3700/02/10, but I understand that it cannot be used.
Is there any reason why you can't support it?
Best Regards,
Ishiwata
Hi Ishiwata,
For the TPS3840 example schematic, the pull-up resistor is not connected to the Vdd node compared to the schematic you provided. In your schematic, when ever OUTA or OUTB toggles to ground, when RESET asserts, it makes the corresponding RP to be parallel with the pull-down leg of your divider, causing your voltage divider configuration to change and change the Vdd voltage. Since this device has a wide operating voltage, it may not cause an issue, but I still cannot recommend it.

Hi Jesse,
Thank you for your reply.
I have an additional question about the SET terminal.
Is it possible to open the SET terminal?
Should it be set to High or Low?
Also, if I don't set it to either High or Low, will it be an indeterminate value?
Best Regards,
Ishiwata
Hi Ishiwata,
Depending on the orderable part number of the TPS3702 you have will determine the behavior of the SET pin. In general setting it High or Low is dependent on your use case and design. The image below shows the OV/UV tolerance settings.

For your question about keeping the SET pin open, it is not advice to have the pin open because it is a logic machine and may toggle between the HIGH or LOW value making the device behave unexpectedly.
