Hello! t I am designing a device utilizing the BQ34110. I want to use the LiFePO4 battery 12V 20Ah. Meanwhile the datasheet says that "Learn Discharge Current should be large enough so that it generates a cell voltage change of approximately 5 mV or greater. A current level of C/20 or higher is generally recommended." It turns out that Learning load resistor should be big enough to dissipate the power 1A for 10 minutes (More than 1W). Am I correct?

Hello Aleksandr,

Make sure that the cell voltage will drop as specified when the load is applied. At c/20, your load will need to dissipate 12W (12V x 1A), right? If the current needs to be increased to achieve the voltage drop, then the dissipation will be higher

Hello! It's not clear why all app notes say that I need only 1-2% capacity but Technical Reference Manual says that I need C/20 which is higher value

The discharge is for a short time (less than an hour). In 1 hour you would discharge by 5%. In 10 minutes you would discharge less than 1%. Hope that helps clear it up.
