BQ76942: FET enable disabled board communication

Part Number: BQ76942
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO, EV2400

Hi,

I am working with BQ76942 IC, whenever I am sending the FET enable command, the communication with bq Studio stops and the device does not respond. The interface considered is a custom BQ76942 device with EVM board.

Is there any solution for this?

  • Hello,

If I am understanding right. You are using a custom board and our EVM for the EV2400 to be able to talk to BQStudio. If so, did you unpopulated the BQ76942 IC on the EVM? (just making sure you do not have two BQ76942 ICs)

Would you please share the schematic of the custom board, and include a drawing of how you are interfacing the BQ76942 IC and the EVM?

It's difficult to provide a possible solution without much details.

    Regards,
    Jose Couso

  • Hi Jose,

I had powered the logic section of Bq76942 EVM using USB. The AFE wasn't powered and the pull-up shunt on EVM was installed.

I will share the schematic shortly.

But I am able to execute every other command....

  • Hello Priyank,

Did you remove the shunt on the SDA and SCL pins on the EVM? Having the headers shorted on the EVM will affect communication.

Also, are you using same GND for both EVM and custom board? Same GND should be used.

Please share the CHG and DSG circuitry of the custom board.

    Regards,
    Jose Couso

  • Hello Jose,

I had removed the shunts connecting the on board AFE to EVM and used SDA_MCU and SCL_MCU. The remove shunts were placed on pull-up provision. The ground of my custom board and EVM were shorted. As I said, I am able to execute other commands. I will share chg/dchg circuitry shortly.

  • Hello Priyank,

    Please see internal message.
