TPS65988: Questions about TI / TPS65988

Part Number: TPS65988

Dear Team,

We found there were some USB devices that were detected again and again, and the detection was not successful eventually.

After comparing the CC log with our NB which could have a successful detection, we found the USB Type-C port output power of our project is set on 5V/0.9A, and in my NB it is set on 5V/1.5A. Please see the attached files.

Could you suggest which part of the setting I should change in the Customization Tool that the output power could meet the 5V/1.5A?

Fail.data     Success.data

Many Thanks,

Jimmy

  • Hi Jimmy,

What program/tool do I need to view the .data files? If you haven't already, could you share the project files for the TI USB PD controller and the CC Logs.

There are two things I think could be happening here. If you are using a USB Type-A connector or not using USB-PD, you may want to adjust this setting.

If you are in PD mode acting as a power sink, you will want to adjust the Transmit Sink Capabilities register:

If you are in PD mode acting as a power source, you will want to adjust the Transmit Source Capabilities register:

    Thanks and Regards,

    Chris

  • Hi Chris,

    We appreciated your great support!

The attached file is the project file I used, and I have checked the setting and it is the same as you said. Please help to review it.

And also I found the same situation happens on TPS65988EVM.

We use the Power-Z KM001C to see what's going on, and below is the picture we catched.

  • Hi Jimmy,

Can you try increasing the Operating Current Value to 1.5A?

    Thanks and Regards,
