BQ25703A: Intel Raptor Lake

Part Number: BQ25703A
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQ25713

Hi

Customers have used Bq25703A on the Intel Tiger Lake platform, Can I continue to use it on Raptor Lake? There are problems with bq25703A as follows: 1. Is Power/Current Monitor for CPU Throttling compatible with IMVP 9.1?

  • Hi Gareth,

I think the device you are looking for (IMVP9 compliant) is BQ25713 but let me check with the team on this matter. I believe Intel reference design should have part suggestion on it.

    Regards

  • Hi  Tommy

    Any updates?

In addition, please ask BQ25703A pin 10 Psys

    1. Is the output a voltage (VPsys) or a current (IPsys) that needs to be converted into a voltage through an external Pull-Down resistor?

    2. What is the maximum wattage of the report? (Ex: 160W)

  • Hi Gareth,

the PSYS output is a current signal based on the PSYS equation. It generates a voltage drop on the PSYS resistor. The voltage is clamped at 3.3V. Sizing the RAC/RSR current sense and PSYS resistor, you could design for 160W applications without reaching 3.3V clamp.

    Regards,
