UCC28951: Design help for 2.8kW power solution

Hi Experts,

Seeking your assistance on this query from Cx:

We are in designing of a 48VDC to 12V dc converter, the power output is 2.8KW. We are planning to use PSFB topology & selected UCC28951 Phase-Shifted Full-Bridge Controller.

One of our major requirements is current sharing/load sharing. So, for that purpose, we are planning to select UCC39002. But now my doubt is that, shall we able to use UCC39002 with UCC28951?

We are designing a power supply unit that is capable of paralleling with similar units. That is the power supply should have an inbuild load sharing/ current sharing feature.

Thanks for letting me know. Because if you were not doing a modular design there was a technique that does not require the UCC29002.

When it comes to designing the UCC28951 power stage the following link will bring you to an application note that goes through the step design process of designing a phase shifted full bridge. The application note also discusses in detail how to setup the UCC28951 controller including. Within this application note is a link to an excel design tool that uses the same calculations in the application note.

If you want more of hands off approach there is a Webench tool where you enter your input and output power requirements and the tool will generate a schematic and bill of material (BOM) for you. You can find this tool at the following link. However, the Webench tool is at the bottom of the page.

In regards to the UCC29002 load share controller. This device was designed to adjust the feedback loop in modular designs. There is an excel design tool that you can find in the following link. If you have issues with the UCC29002 please post in a separate link so the appropriate applications engineer can help you in your design process.
