BQ40Z80: PACK pin connection

Part Number: BQ40Z80

Hi,

In the reference design, the BQ40Z80 PACK pin is connected to P+ pin via series resistor.

Is there any issue if the PACK pin is disconnected from P+ pin and connected to C+ charger pin as in the attached figure?

Charger voltage C+ pin is used to boot the BQ40Z80.

Please advise.

Thanks,

Kim

  • Hello Kim,

Yes it is used as the gate reference voltage for the DSG FET, this configuration shouldn't be used. It is in the datasheet section 7.5 for the voltage references used for the FETs to be on or off. (Vpack is the pack pin)

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller
