TPS25750: No firmware development or external microcontroller needed?

Hi Team,

My customer would like to use TPS25750 to be UFP sink, and its one GPIO pin could control USB3 MUX's FLIP pin.

In this case, could we still say no firmware and MCU need?

The customer feels confused about the description of the datasheet.

Could you please help to clarify?

Hi Jim,

TPS25750 can be configurd as an UFP sink and use one of the GPIO pins to control the USB3MUX Flip pin. This can be done using the TPS25750 GUI. In the GUI you will configure for sink only device and use register 0x5C IO Config to multiplex GPIOx pin to GPIO event, which can be found in the Technical Reference Manual.

Therefore, using the GUI customer does not need to do any firmware development and there is no need for an external MCU. You can flash the FW patch and configuration through the GUI directly to the EEPROM.

Hi Jim,

Yes, EEPROM is still needed in your case as you will need to load the configuration to PD for GPIO.
