TPS61026: Power output issue

Dear Sir/Madam

I am using device TPS61026 in my application. The output from the device is showing intermittent behaviour. In multiple power ON attempt sometime output is correctly coming to +5V but most of the time it is showing +1.5V.

The schematic is enclosed for the reference.

Load current of circuit is 700 ma. Input source is 5v,1.5A AC-DC adapter.

Hi Vikas,

If that, TPS61026 may not support startup with 700mA load current, we have pre-charge phase when startup and the pre-charge current is limited.

As per device datasheet, it supports output 5V with 1800 ma of current. Is there any recommended change in the schematic. pl. help

Hi Vikas,

The 1800mA is switching current limit after startup, during startup, it has limited precharge current as it is shown above.

What is your application condition? Like VIN range, VOUT range, Iout range, and the target end device of the chip. Maybe we can promote other devices with larger precharge current for you. Thanks.

VIN : 3.5 to 5.5V

Vout: 5V

Iout: Inrush : 800A, continuous: 0.4A

One of the observation is whenever circuit is not powered ON, o/p of the regulator is 1.5v.

I think TPS61023 may be fine for you.

Do you mean that the chip will also output 1.5V without any input?

1.0 Pl. tell me whether TPS61026 will work for our application or not .

2.0 Is there any pin to pin replacement of TPS61026 available for our application.

Hi Vikas,

1. TPS61026 can't support 700mA when startup, but can support other conditions after startup ( inrush 0.8A, continuous 0.4A). So if you can try to reduce the startup load current, TPS61026 will be fine. If not, it may not be used in your application.

2. Very sorry we don't have p2p replacement of this device.
