TPS23758: 12V DC input for TPS23758

Hi Sir,

 My customer want to use 12V as DC input source for TPS23758. We see there's a test report on EVM and it use 12V as DC VCC in adaptor input. So can we use EVM circuit to implement 12Vdc input as another source on TPS23758? Or any modify we have to do on the circuit? Thanks for your kindly help.

    Thanks for reaching out to us! I assume you are talking about J4 in TPS23758EVM.

    In the User’s Guide TPS23758EVM-080 Evaluation Module, it shows 2 voltages of it (12 V and 48 V). The 12-V adapter for me was an error: the PD does not have the PPD pin and its UVLO could be triggered if the adapter voltage is less than 37 V. 

    The adapter input voltage should be 37 - 57 V at its location. 

    For Vcc, its 12 V is from the auxiliary winding rather than the adapter.

    TPS23756EVM (https://www.ti.com/lit/ug/slvu329a/slvu329a.pdf)  with PPD pin and low transformer PRI:SEC turns ratio can support 10 - 57 V adapter voltage and 5 V output voltage.

    TPS23756EVM  uses the active clamping forward topology. For flyback, low input voltage will rise the input current then requires larger coupled inductor (transformer) size to avoid flux density saturation.
