TLC6984: Question about formula(2)

Part Number: TLC6984

Dear Specialists,

My customer is considering TLC6984 and has a question.

I would be grateful if you could advise.

---

Regarding the datasheet P.18 formula (2),

Is it possible to change the peak current value of Iout_R (or G or B) by setting the CC register?

For example, when Ioutset=3mA and Ratio of Ioutset=0.39%, is the current value calculated as follows?

Iout = 3(mA) x 0.39% = 11.7uA

---

I appreciate your great help in advance.

Best regards,

Shinichi

  • Hi Shinichi-san,

    • I think you mean equation (2) in datasheet Page 17.
    • Changing the CC register setting will change the peak current value of Iout_R (or G or B). Your calculation is correct. However, as mentioned in "Section 7.3 Recommended Operating Conditions" from the datasheet, the minimum constant output source current should be no smaller than 0.2 mA.
    • BTW, could you tell me who is the end customer and what is the end equipment?

    Best Regards,

    Steven

  • Hi Steven,

    Thank you for your reply.

    I'm confirming datasheet(SLVSG10D), equation(2) is in Page 18.

I understand output source current is no smaller than 0.2mA by 7.3 Recommended Operating Conditions.

so the customer is not able to output 11.7uA.

I cannot say the customer's name in this thread, could you please provide friendship request or your e-mail address.

I appreciate your great help and cooperation.

    Best regards,

    Shinichi

  • Hi Shinichi-san,

Yes. You are correct. The equation(2) should be in the Page 18. I was reading an old version of datasheet. Sorry for that.

I understand and I have submit a friendship request.

    BR,

    Steven
