TPS63000 - Use a super capacitor as power supply

Other Parts Discussed in Thread: TPS63000

hi there

Is that possible to use a super capacitor as power supply for TPS63000/63001 and get a stable out put?

I try to power a MCU(3V, 30mA ) by using 2 super capacitor 3.3F 2.7V (connected in series) ,whose capacity should be 1,65Fand out put voltage is 5.4V

the discharge time of a capacitor is much shorter than battery ,but for my case I only need  the MCU work for 1min

TPS63000/63001 has automatic Transition between Step Down and Boost Mode, input range is 1.8V-5.5V,

So I suppose that  when the voltage of  capacitor drops down from 5.4V to 3V , the  TPS63000/63001should work as a buck regulator

when the voltage of  capacitor drops down from 3 V to 1.8V  the  TPS63000/63001should work as a boost regulator

So I can get higher efficiency than using a single buck regulator or boost regulator

Is this idea possible?

thanks very much
