BQ76952: Can not calibrate VC16 though BQStudio

Part Number: BQ76952
Other Parts Discussed in Thread: BQSTUDIO

As the title states, I am currently trying to calibrate the BQ76952 through the BQStudiio Software, however cell 10 is not being calibrated correctly. (Cell 10/VC16 reads 2.7 V instead of 3.1 V on pack 1, and 3.15V instead of 2.8 V on pack 2)

Cells 1-9/ VC0-10, stack and pack voltages all calibrate through the calibration tool in BQStudio, reasonably accurately. It is just VC16 that has problems. We are using 20 Ohm resistors with 220 nF for all cell tap measurements (just like the reference design)

Any suggestions about how to get the top cell to calibrate correctly as this is obviously going to cause us problems moving problems if we can not calibrate the top cell correctly.

Any questions please ask, and I will provide as much information as I can.

  • Hello Lewis,

There should be no problem with the calibration tool in BQStudio. I tested on my side and saw accurate values when calibrating all cell/stack voltages (including VC16). Have you tried calibrating VC16 alone using an accurate value? Use a multimeter to check directly at the pins what voltage it is.

Can you also share your schematic to make sure everything is okay? If not comfortable sharing it publicly, you can send me a friend request and send me a PM with the schematic.

For our best suggestions for the calibration of the device, we have the following application note which may be useful: BQ769x2 Calibration and OTP Programming Guide.

Let me know if you have any questions.

    Best Regards,
