BQ40Z50: Abnormal communication

I now design a project, bq40z50 pin SMBD and SMBC connection, as shown in Figure 2; During the customer host test, it was found that it could not communicate with the host;

The connection of another SMBD and SMBC is shown in Figure 1; Communication is normal. Can you help me introduce the advantages of the two connection modes?
