How's everything going lately

Now use the BQ40Z50 - R1 in a SHA - 1 the problem of encryption, the original password is 0123456789 ABCDEFFEDCBA9876543210, I now want to change to the new password is 11111111111111111111111111111111. Instructions in the specification: the password can be changed by inputting the instructions as shown in Figure 1 and then sending the instructions as shown in Figure 2 in the fully decrypted state. However, I failed to change the password in actual operation. Please help to guide me where there is a problem. I then tried to send them directly as shown in Figure 3 and Figure 4, but failed to change the password.

I already know this integrated change method; Can I change the SHA-1 password using the method in the advanced comm SMB? I want to know the reason for this method: during mass production, we want to change the password in batches through the upper computer instead of opening BQStdio 。

Hello guoqing,

The SHA-1 key programming should be within the SREC for the firmware based implementation, if you are using the SHA-1 secure key then it would need to be done in addition to the SREC and all the steps are outlined in the FAQ you linked to. You are trying to implement the firmware based method from the screenshots I see so you only need to use the plugin once to set the key then export the SREC.

As for the SHA-1 secure key, I understand that it can only be set once and cannot be changed. Besides this, does it have any other advantages over SHA-1 key? In what scenario is the SHA-1 secure key more appropriate

Hello guoqing,

This is really dependent on the security you need. SHA-1 secure memory key storage is more secure, but it is also additional overhead to program. If you are not doing high volumes I would simply use the flash memory based SHA-1 key which is programmed in the BQStudio tab.

Hi Wyatt Keller，

Can I change SHA-1 key through advanced comm SMB? Now customers need to customize the SHA-1 key, so we want to change the SHA-1 key before shipment.

Hello guoqing,

I'm not sure which method you are using. SHA-1 can be updated through the SHA-1 plugin, this is the recommended method unless you have very high run rates you can use the SHA-1 secure memory, this should not be done with the advanced communication in production since EV2400 does not support production programming, you can use the advanced comm for testing the SHA01 secure programming..

Hi Wyatt Keller,

The method you recommend to change SHA-1 key is to operate BQstudio. This method does not support batch change. SHA-1 secure key can be changed in batch (you have given the method). The question is whether there is a method similar to changing SHA-1 secure key to change SHA-1 key

Hello guoqing,

The SHA-1 (non secure) programming is explained in the TRM and it is much simpler and it is included in the SREC so you don't need to do anything besides upload the golden image. The secure SHA-1 programming has more overhead.
