UCC5870-Q1: Volatile or non-volatile memory

Part Number: UCC5870-Q1

Hi Team,

According to our customer, the E2E thread below stated that the registers are all volatile.

https://e2e.ti.com/support/power-management-group/power-management/f/power-management-forum/1004211/ucc5870-q1-are-the-registers-non-volatile-and-can-the-chip-be-used-without-using-spi-after-configuration?tisearch=e2e-sitesearch&keymatch=UCC5870-Q1

However, Section 7.3.5.15 stated "and the internal non-volatile memory that store the trim information " and  Section 7.3.5.18 also mentioned "After each power up, the device performs a TRIM CRC check on the internal non-volatile memory"

Our customer would like to clarify if the UCC5870-Q1 has non-volatile memory.

Regards,

Danilo

  • Hi Danilo,

All user configurable registers are volatile, meaning that after power up all user configurable registers must be rewritten. This includes all registers listed in the datasheet register map.

The non-volatile trim registers mentioned in section 7.3.5.18 are not user accessible and should never change.

I hope this answers your question, if not please let us know how we can further help.

    Regards,

    Daniel
