BQ40Z50-R1: Parameter setting of Golden Learning

Part Number: BQ40Z50-R1

Hi engineer,

now I am now using BQ40Z50-R1 for golden Learning 。

In the document "Achieving The Successful Learning Cycle",II found that the "Design capacity" and "Term Voltage" should be set according to the specification parameters of the battery before golden learning, which can be adjusted according to the actual application later. Then how should the "Charge Term Taper Current" be set? Should it be set according to the specification parameters of the cell and adjusted according to the actual application?

Now the full charge current in the specification of the battery cell is 62mA, and the cut-off current of the charger is 100mA. How should I fill it?

Look forward to your reply! Thanks!

  • Hello Quoqing,

If you are charging to the recommended voltage for the battery cell then a small difference of the taper current should be okay if your charger is set to a slightly higher value than the cell spec. I would set the Charge Term Taper Current to trigger about 80 seconds before the charger actually stops. If you have a log of the charge profile this should be easy to find the taper value to program. To get a Qmax update during the learning cycle you have to get a 90% change in DOD, this is why we want to go to the full range of the battery otherwise we may not get enough change.

    Sincerely,

    Wyatt Keller

  • Hi Wyatt Keller,

         Thanks a lot!
