TPS63802: Thermal design

Hi team!

The customer want to use TPS63802 to output maximum power, but they are not sure whether the device can work normally when the ambient temperature is 0~75 degree centigrade and output is maximum power. At the same time, how would we do the thermal design, what the temperature is the device and how to calculate the temperature ? Is there any design need to be emphasize?

could you share some more details about this application, such as the info of input voltage range and the maximum output voltage/current.

Hi Hale,

For layout, you can take the picture below as ref. it will help to get a better thermal performance.

Four layes
Larger size of polygon, espacially for nets VIN/VOUT/L1/L2/GND
Vias as close as you can to PIN VIN/VOUT/L1/L2/GND, more vias will help too.

For the calculation,

Please take the attachment as ref. Here is the calculation tool for boost converter. but mostly, the worst thermal case is happen with boost operation,
